Gallente Station Tour - Administration

( 3 Votes )

I can't believe you would make us late Ron and all over one can of Quafe. Come on really?

Okay so sue me. What can I say I like the stuff. Besides its only the Admin tour - really, like these people have very difficult...um...

Gallente Federal AdministrationOkay so this is the Admin tour, yes I know its not exciting. Medical looks cool with all the pods and the repair has all those fancy tools and ships galore. But this is one of the most necessary sections of the station, any station for that matter. All the other areas would be necessary components but we hold it all together and keep them running smoothly....Yes?

So are the Corporation's part of the Admin Tour?

Um actually no. The corporation's are treated just like the hotels, hydroponics, or the schools. This place is just like one small city except everything is filtered, monitored and recycled. And all of that happens behind the scenes by us the Admin people.

Can you give us a concrete example of some work that you guys do?

Okay...Sure Lui. A simple example was instituted years ago by the insurance, maintenance and manufacturing groups through out the galaxy. It is even used by pirates and rogues incredibly and its all thanks to us. You see Capsuleers use jump gates to move their ships over the vast regions in between star systems. Their warp engines over heat and shut down in the warp bubble it creates so it is limited in distance. Now the jump gates need to be maintained. Accuracy is important. Imagine if a gate was pointing a little off target. These poor guys would be tossed into empty space along way off or even worse bubbled right into a star.

Ah I see so you ensure maintenance is carried properly on the gates?

Umm...yes but that's not where I was going. Anyways, we set up the 15 km distance for auto pilot warp ins. You see the maintenance groups wanted the distance set at 50 km and the Capsuleers wanted it at a jump distance of 2.5 km. Then we, the admin, brought the insurance and maintenance experts together, hashed out the different reasons for different distances came up with 15 km's then had the manufacturing install the rules into the AI autopilot which in turn has been enforced up to this day.

Whats wrong with having Capsuleers warp in at 2.5 km's.

Well, accuracy is the big one...This area is one of the many hydroponic gardens that we have on station. Some of the food that you had at lunch may very well have been grown right here...So to continue, these Capsuleer's warp in manually and bounce off the gates super structure leaving dents and making the gate shift ever so slightly throwing its aim off and well that's a lot of maintenance to be performed. Which in turn cost's the gate maintenance budget ISK loads in manual repairs per month.

Um why manual repair, don't the nanobots do the repairs?

Unfortunately not when its just dents. Severe damage caused by those big ships, meteor or bullet damage, yes but the dents don't get fixed except in station. Its the dents that throw off the calibration of the gate. Which could become very unfortunate eventually.

Okay so you brokered the deal for the autopilot to be set at 15 km to reduce damages while warping into a jump gate. Is that correct.

Yes Mary that is correct.

Another area is confirmation and payment. When a job is handed to one of these guys we download part of their pod logs and confirm that they encountered and carried out the job. Now we don't actually look at everything, that's securities job but the logs will show that they destroyed a Serpentis ship or a Sansha one. Which will get a payment value, a bounty as its called. That then...uh okay yes?

Hi can I have an example of something you are working on. Something that we can expect perhaps?

Okay so ship or in station one.

How about station?

Visit the Pleasure HubOkay so here's a biggie. On the station there's loads of entertainment, hotels, swimming pools, casinos, spas. These are all accessible to the locals but not to the Capsuleer's yes its kind of a ship story too. It was on my desk this morning. So we are trying to get the Casino's to go online making some of their Holo reels and games available. They are against it for security and remote hacking so we are bringing security and entertainment together to fix this issue. Now mind your noses we are approaching the recycling module for this section of the station.

Um...whew...okay quickly going off topic, can you confirm that crime is low because we ship criminals out to the Amarrian's as slaves?

Whoa now that's a new one on me? So I guess no for an answer but that's an idea I might just pass up the line Ron, thanks for the idea. So lets keep going quickly the vents seem a little on the slow side here.

What no bonus for me, come on its my idea...

Gagh..maintenance needs to get down here.

Ya well even if I send it in there's little chance of me getting credit either...So we are now near the Gravity Ball Stadium which Administration is trying to organize an interstellar event between the empires. Hopefully the Amarrians will get onside and put their differences down. The Caldari have agreed in principal, the Jovians also and we are awaiting word back from the Minmatar. Of course we have sent out invitations to all groups that control areas of the galaxy but we doubt any of the seriously offending groups will show up. Concord is definitely stating under no circumstances will blah blah blah. So that's a tough one to push through. Lots of diplomacy there anyways but hey if it goes through.

Well I can see that administration is not so boring after all. Just a lot of things that are taken for granted or not even thought of. I was wrong this is somewhat eye opening.

We might look like we are just sitting around at our desk but there's lots going on to make life better for station people, planet dwellers and of course the Capsuleer's.

I don't think I have ever been in an empty stadium before and definitely not a Gravity Game one.

Well Mary Gravity Ball is catching on through out the Galaxy and the politicians think it could bring peace for a short time at least. But there is the other side in that groups may try to take advantage of the situation and stop the process for their own reasons. Once again politics.

Ah well that is unfortunate. You had another example of I believe Capsuleer's administration?

Um...oh, yes, sure another example. Well in space Capsuleer's jettison their cargo occasionally. Now the nanites currently get their material from the ship itself and build the containers. Some times when these ships get in they look like a fancy cheese with all these tiny holes. For the longest time the maintenance people couldn't figure out why. And the ship didn't report any damage as it was self sustained. Silly little mistake really. But now that we know the problem exists the maintenance group wants the Capsuleers to pay for repairs. So we have a solution that we are trying to implement but it could take time for the changes to actually happen.

So that's the end of this tour I will take you back to your hotel where you can enjoy the amenities of the station. If you have any more questions feel free to ask through your Hotel Room Access Panel. Or you can just contact me, look up Mark Thompson Administrator.

Um just one more quick question please?

Sure go ahead.

CONCORD AssemblyOkay so at lunch we saw one Capsuleer shoot and blow up another one. Why does CONCORD allow that to happen.

Ah yes, so CONCORD lets these guys do that in order for the new Capsuleers to get used to losing their ships. You see if they stepped in all the time then when these guys went out into zero space and lost a multi-million dollar ship it would be devastating, physiologically speaking and financially also. That's why simply, so these guys get used to losing their ships early on, better to get used to losing an 8 thousand dollar ship then to make a mistake on an 80 million dollar ship.

If there are no more questions please enjoy the shopping and the other hospitalities of the station. Good bye.

Hey Jerry...Hi Mark how did the tour go.

Man I hate reporters, asked a bunch of dumb questions so I made up some stuff and hey I took them by module14. Ha.

Ahh..Mark? Isn't that area out of bounds? You took breathing masks, didn't you?

Tsks..what do you take me for I had nose plugs. Oh for them well it was the high light of the tour. They won't forget that smell for some time.

You are gonna get fired pulling a stunt like that. You do know that? Right?

Ya I know, now lets go for a beer. There's still two hours left of touring time...
